Sexual Health

Sexual health can be described as a state of physical, mental and social well-being with respect to one's sexuality. It involves a positively respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the likely possibility of having sexual experiences that are pleasurable and safe, free of coercion, discrimination and of course violence.

When talking about sexual health, various areas are to be considered and understood properly if one's goal is to be on the positive side of sexual health. Sections like sexual practices, sexual safety and communication between partners are important aspects to be touched when talking about sexual health.

To begin with, the importance of communication cannot be overstressed. Good communication is a fundamental aspect of sexual health. It's about the development of skills necessary to express your feelings to your partner at any given time. It's about being able to tell your partner what you would want and wouldn't want. It's also about being able to ask the right questions, and being able to accurately source things you've heard/read somewhere.

At some points in our lives, we become potential targets for sexual exploitation. Still, that doesn't mean we should eventually end up being victims to the exploitation. Exploitation can come in physical, financial or emotional forms. Sexual exploiters can range from abusive parents to media content producers. Protection from such situations includes being able to recognize such situations when they arise and being able to avoid them in order to prevent any sexual pressure and coercion. Being able to get advice and pointers on what to do if you've been sexually abused is also a good measure to take.

Sexual practice is another key element of sexual health. The measures that you take to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), unwanted pregnancy and unwanted sex are not to be taken for granted. For something that seems pretty simple, sex has a lot of people confused about its facts. Some people have sex and don't even know that they do. Some people often confuse contraception with safe sex. Contraception involves preventing sperm from its target which is the egg while safe sex involves the prevention of sexually transmitted infections. People are unknowingly contracting STIs. Not many people are concerned about their sexual preferences, and this is an issue. Understanding the difference between sexual identity, sexual behavior and sexual orientation are important steps to take in achieving good sexual health.

Evaluating Your Sexual Health Needs

Sexual health is an issue that is becoming more acceptable in today's society and many are offering ways to improve it. From choosing the right diet, exercise program and possibly the right sexual supplement, here is a guide to improving sexual health.

Here are just a few of the issues that might be affecting your sexual health. Your general health, obesity, self-image, impotence, and lack of sexual satisfaction.

There are different ways to try to overcome these issues to get you on the right track to having great sex. If you are overweight, try to lose a few of those extra pounds. You might not find the difference in losing only 5 pounds, but over the course of a strict diet and as the months pass by, you will sure to see a difference. Overweight people have a decreased libido and therefore do not get the most out of sex.

Exercise is necessary for sexual health. Ever wonder why after sex it feels like a workout? Because it is! No one is saying you need to go out and get an expensive gym membership in order to be in shape. Being physically fit can be a big plus while being in the middle of it. Walking or light jogging is one way to increase your heart rate and get you conditioned for it. As long as you exercise long enough to get your heart pumping, it really does not matter what you do. Whatever program you put yourself on, you need to do a cardio workout at least 3-4 times a week.

Exercising will help you to lose weight as well. Exercising will help you boost your testosterone levels and this will increase your libido, creating more sexual performance.

Another important gdneral health issue leading to sexual problems is the amount of sleep you get each night. Sleep and rest are important to overall health as well as sexual health. Without the right amount of sleep, sometimes a person can be moody and not feel at their best. Since everyone's day to day schedule is different, evaluate your sleeping situation to determine if you are getting enough sleep. Most professionals consider getting between 6 and 8 hours of sleep each night.

The importance of sleep also depends on your mood that day. How many of you have woken up without enough sleep and you already know you will not have a great day? If you have just a small amount of free time during the day, take a short nap. Experts also say that a nap during the day actually makes you more aware of the events going on around you.

The next leading role in sexual health is stress. I cannot directly tell you how to live a stress free life, since that is up to each individual and their lifestyle. If you have too much on your mind and are stressing about that important project at work that is not due for another few weeks, your mind is obviously not on sex or how to make it better. My advice is to seek out your own answers about how to live with and conquer stress. One suggestion is to make a list of what stresses you out everyday and take action to change it.

There's also a product called Virility Pills VP-RX you can get to assist with your sexual life. It's an all natural herbal supplement containing a variety of herbs known to help promote male sexual desire and function. You know better than anyone what your sexual issues are and what you need to make your sex life better.

Speak Up - For Better Sexual Health

Why are men so difficult when they have to confront their sexual health? Men do not hesitate to take charge of established businesses and start up new ones or help our children and neighbors cope with their own crises, but when men have a sexual problem, they suddenly feel all alone and adrift without any sense of where to turn. But sexual problems have always been somehow different, not something easy to talk about because they are frankly too personal or private. If you have a sexual health problem, you should know that you are not alone.

When a man's problem is not related to the role of his penis as a passageway for urinating, but as a sexual instrument, his thinking and actions change dramatically. If his penis does not stand erect when he attempts to have sex, he does not, as a rule, automatically call his doctor for advice. This is not surprising, because men have been led that male sexual problems were not likely to be caused by real physical problems but rather were the consequence of mental factors or worse were yet an indication of his individual weakness as a male, a misguided perception that persists even today.

Scientist have since cast aside their own prejudices and defined the components of normal male sexuality to establish the template for sexual competence. Now, when a man's sexual function falters, doctors can look for weak links in the system. You would think that doctors, of all people, would learn this in medical school, but in reality, talk about sex has for the most part been ignored in most medical schools until quite recently. Within the past two decades, new developments have provided doctors with refreshing new insights about the causes of, and treatments for, a range of male sexual problems including impotence also defined as erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and erection problems. Doctors now have a better understanding of the details of a man's sexual desires and his ability to participate in his natural sexuality. Until doctors understood the details of a man's sexual chemistry, they could offer only limited treatment.

Nutritional measures, exercise, plant-based herbal medicines are often used in the natural treatment of male sexual health issues. Improving sexual desire and function is possible using herbal medicines because they could improve the activity of the male glandular system, improve the blood supply to erectile tissue, and enhance transmission or stimulation of the nerve signal. Herbal medicines have been used for centuries to treat ailments before medicine even existed. Just a few examples of plant-based herbal remedies are listed below.

Panax Ginseng-is the most widely used and most extensively studied ginseng. It is generally regarded as the best ginseng in that it has the most potent effect. Detailed scientific investigations support the use of ginseng as a tonic for men and in conditions involving male reproductive system. In addition, ginseng can be used whenever fatigue or lack of energy is apparent and to increase mental and physical performance.

Muira Puama-One of the best plants used for erectile dysfunction or lack of libido, which is also known as potency wood. This shrub is native to Brazil and has long been used as a powerful aphrodisiac and nerve stimulant. A recent clinical study has validated that muira puama meets safety and effectiveness in improving libido and sexual function. Yohimbe- A tree that grows throughout the African nations of Cameroon, Gabon and Zaire, is the only herb listed in the Physician's Desk Reference as supporting sexual function. Yohimbe's energizing effects stem from its ability to increase blood flow to the genitals therefore it is helpful for men with erection problems. Effects can include increased libido, increased sensation and increased stamina.

If you wish tn try the herbal remedies, discuss it with your physician. Since he or she is most likely unaware of the herbal medicines available, you may need to do some educating. Remember, although many herbal medicines are effective on their own, they work even better if they are part of a natural treatment plan that focuses on diet and lifestyle for a better sexual health.

How Exercise Can Help You Increase Your Sexual Health And Save Your Marriage

If you want to know what sexual health means and how it could cause problems in your marriage, then you should continue to read the article. Also, if you have sexual health problem and you want a way out of it, you need to read on too. The article will look at the meaning of sexual health, the problem it could cause in a marriage, what type of exercise, and how such an exercise could help to improve your sexual health. After reading this article, you will be able to know whether you are sexually fit for some rounds of sex with your wife/spouse.

Women know and understand all too well how their sense of physical well-being influences their level of sexual desire. For this reason, if you ask a woman if she is fit for sex, she will tell you straight away. For men, however, much of this is unknown to them; it is a virgin territory. Today, men worry about their weight and fitness. If you relate this to sexual activities, then, their focus on weight and body fitness could be said to be superficial. Men's understanding of sexual health is how well they can get it up (or how fast), keep it up, and get it off, even if it requires a little porn or a pill to make all these happen. Yes, we have sex with our Penises. Sexual health is being more attuned to ones entire body, head to head and nape to toe i.e., having sex with our whole bodies and minds. It is to have truly embodied and ultimately out-of-body sex.

Sex is the second causes of problems in the home and divorces (comes after financial problem). A husband that is unfit for sex or sexual activities is no good to his wife. Such a man cannot give his wife genuine orgasm. What we have most times are wives faking orgasms to make their husband have a feeling that they have performed very well in bed. This would eventually lead to a situation where the wife just lies down for her to get it in and out of her in the shortest time. The husband enjoys it and the wife, doesn't get any amusement and joy from sex with her husband. The two are just not connected in body. Soon, the non-connectivity will spread to other aspects of their home with the consequence being loneliness and eventually divorce. In reality, our sex lives are anything but easy; they're rife with subtext, miscommunication, and ambiguity, as well as unspoken wants and guilty desires.

Exercise can be used to improve sexual health. Some types of exercises have found to improve blood inflow into the arteries which is essential in sexual arousal. Regular aerobic workout keep the blood flowing and the arteries producing nitric oxide. Now, nitric oxide, this substance is the life blood (literally speaking) of the male erection and is essential to sexual arousal. If you have not notice, you sometimes feel horniest post-exercise. Also, feel-good endorphins that contribute to sexual arousal are released. Exercise also plays a major role in generating positive self-esteem, perhaps the most powerful sexual enhancer. You wouldn't believe how many men suffer from poor body image. And as women know all too well, low self-esteem dampens sexual desire.

On a personal note, I was way over my ideal weight about three years ago, and I was basically stuck in a low-level sex rut. I rarely exercised. Not only did I not have the energy for sex, but also I just felt unattractive. The complaints started from my wife, then my friends and my relatives. It affected my marriage, my wife felt disgusted at my appearance and loss of self-esteem. I made a decision to get into better shape, so I went on an exercise and fitness program. Not only did I lose the weight fairly quickly, but also the smallest improvement along the way boosted my self-esteem and libido tenfold. I feel at my most alive when I'm pushing myself physically during a workout, and, consequently, I feel at my most alive sexually when I make love right after a workout. If you are low on sexual health, you need a whole lot of exercises.

Sex is the second in the causes of divorce/marriage failure (comes after finance). Most men cannot satisfy their wife because they are not sexually fit. Knowing the importance of sex in marriage, men must learn to improve their sexual health fitness for the happiness of their wife and success of their marriage.

Sexual Health Issues Women Experience

In today's current times, women are more open to admitting they have experienced a sexual health issue. When a woman is not interested in sexual activity, yet they would like to be interested the relationship which they are currently in or their marriage might be a contributing factor. Other factors could be their experiences or how their parents raised them but keep in mind there could also be a medical reason for the lack of desire for sex.

Some women experience a reduced blood flow. If a woman has high blood pressure or Diabetes, these conditions can restrict blood flow and therefore leads to sexual health issues.

Some women will experience issues with their hormones. If a woman is on birth control pills or suffering from thyroid problems or menopause these conditions can lead to a decreased desire for sex. Pregnant women who are breast feeding also experience a decreased desire for sexual activity.

If you are on medications, you might be suffering from a sexual health issue due to the side effects of the medication which you are currently taking. Anti-depressants are frequently blamed for lowering the sex drives of not only women but men. Wellbutrin is an anti-depressant which does not take away the sex drive of women and is worth mentioning to your family doctor.

If you have been exposed to pelvic surgery, this can cause nerve damage along with Parkinson's disease and Multiple Sclerosis. The nerve damage associated with these conditions can lead to a lack of desire for sex.

You should talk to your doctor or therapist right away if you are experiencing the lack of desire for sexual activity. Consultations with sex therapists can prove helpful not only with yourself but your relationship. Typically, there are always one or more factors involved with a woman's decreased sex drive. If you feel a lack of desire for sex, you can also seek the help from a sexual medicine specialist.

There are many treatments available. If you are currently on prescribed medications, you should talk to your family doctor about prescribing a medication which increases your dopamine levels which increase the blood flow in your body to your vulva and clitoris. Most women report success with these types of treatments and don't forget to exercise and seek counseling if your relationship warrants such treatment.

If you are suffering from female sexual health issues, you are not alone. Your relationship no longer has to suffer because of these issues. We offer natural remedies which can aid you through this process. Let us show you how.

This can happen when he is either overly aroused, is experiencing anxiety or has lost control. When sperm is somehow forced backwards up into the bladder instead of out of the penis, this called retrograde ejaculation. Finally when the ejaculation occurs so slow that it does not allow orgasm, than this referred to as retarded ejaculation. When the male is not able to become erect or the erection does not last long enough to have sexual intercourse or ejaculation, this condition is referred to as erectile dysfunction or impotence. The causes for this can be medical or psychological.

Some men experience a reduction in sexual desire. There may be a number of different reasons for this to occur. It could be psychological, diabetes, high blood pressure, medications or lowered testosterone. As mentioned above men are usually not prone to sexually transmitted infections or diseases if they practice safe sex, are in a monogamous relationship and do not take intravenous drugs or have sex with a partner who uses intravenous drugs. However, if he does contract a STD or STI, he will experience symptoms such as urination problems, urine with blood, a discharge from is penis, lesions or sores or itching on the genitals.

If a person does experience any of the sexual problems cited above, the best advice is to obtain medical attention immediately. No matter if the underlying cause is physical or psychological, there are numerous therapies that can bring about successful resolution of the problem. In many instances the therapy involves both a physical and psychological component to address not only the physical, but the mental and social impacts of the problem.

Immediate medical assistance must be sought when it comes to problems concerning male sexual health. Diagnosis is usually done through physical and psychological exams, as well as a thorough evaluation of medical history. Treatment usually comes in two phases: medical treatment for physical symptoms and psychological therapy for mental and social factors.

How To Improve Your Hormone Levels And Sexual Health With Natural Remedies

Nutrition and diet are an important part of a woman's general health. These factors also affect her sexual health as well. As women age, hormone levels decrease, and with hormone levels so goes the libido. Women can undergo hormone replacement therapy, to replace depleted hormones, but there are alternatives. Monitoring your diet will help you maintain a vital healthy sex life.
For the best sexual health in women, you should eat foods that are high in magnesium, potassium, Vitamin E, zinc, niacin, and amino acids. Foods that are high in fat can damage a woman's sexual well being by blocking arteries and decreasing blood flow to erogenous zones. Consuming larger amounts of fruits and vegetables lowers cholesterol and increases blood flow. Blood flow equals sexual stimulation. A healthy heart means sexual stamina so eating healthy fibers and starches also contributes to sexual health. Vitamins supplements and multivitamins increase energy levels and boost circulation giving you an overall sexual health boost.
Decreasing stress levels and adequate sleep are always factors in the bedroom. A woman's ability to maintain sexual interest and have regular orgasms hinges on her ability to reduce stress, relax, and be stimulated. Stimulating ones sense of smell and touch through massage oils and lubricants can play an important role in relaxation and overall sexual health. The following methods can be used to help reduce stress: yoga, meditations, or simply a hot bath and a good book.
Nutrition and exercise are an integral part of a man's sexual health as well. Many factors can contribute to changes in sexual health: including medications, illness, fatigue, and/or diseases. Cardiac complications can be caused by a diet that is high in fat. Adding fish and foods that are high in protein can rejuvenate a man's sexual health, along with foods containing high amounts of zinc. Fish, shellfish, and oysters all stimulate the health of the prostate.
Vitamin E and Niacin are both vitamins that are directly linked to sexual health. Vitamin E is called the "sex vitamin" because it is said to lead to stronger erections. Niacin constructs the sex and adrenal hormones. This vitamin imitates the natural flush one gets from sexual excitement and arousal. Niacin dilates the blood vessels and allows for more blood flow. Once again, for men as for women, blood flow equals sexual stimulation.
Exercise is good for your body. Sex is good for your body. Exercise leads to heightened sexual experiences because the heart is pumping, blood is flowing and energy is available. When you work out, your body releases a great amount of stress. When you reach orgasm during intercourse, more stress is released. Basically, your physical and sexual health benefit from your healthy lifestyle.

Your Sexual Health: Let's Talk
In order to have a healthy sexual life, you need to talk to your partner, and often. The more you can communicate your needs, wants and desires - and listen to the same from your partner - the better of a sex life you'll have. Feel empathy. Let them know that you love and cherish them. Be a good listener. And if you need, or want something, don't hesitate to ask for it.
Your Sexual Health: Food for Thought
Over time, the feelings you have for your partner may have dwindled a bit. So how you do kick start that passionate, swept away emotion again? Feed them. Find out what really creates those types of intense feelings and emotions for your partner, and then feed them regularly. It could be as simple as going for a walk down the street hand in hand, or listening to some sexy music together, cuddled up on the couch.
Your Sexual Health: Self-Love
If you are always thinking about your body, and not about the great sex you are supposed to be having, then how can you really enjoy anything? Release those pent-up feelings about your sexual health and how you present physically. Think about what makes you feel good about your body, and focus on those things, and traits, instead.
Your Sexual Health: Try New Things

Plan in advance, and make sure to have everything ready before the fun begins.

Vaginal Tightening and Its Relation With Female Sexual Health

Female Sexual Health
For most of us sex is one of the most important parts of our lives. So everybody wants to be sexually fit in order to enjoy their sexual life.
Weaknesses in sexual health affect both men and women; however female is generally believed to be more fragile than that of males. The simple reason for this being women tend to be physically and mentally more sensitive than men. Hence factors that generally would not affect male have a big effect on female.
Sexual topic for females was a subject considered taboo for a long time. It was never openly discussed and women were discouraged from talking about it even with their closest confidantes. However changing times have broken down this taboo and female sexual health is now openly discussed. As a result new solutions have been discovered that helps to improve sexual health of women.
What is the meaning of female sexual health?
It is more than just a state of a woman being sexually active. It relates to her needs and practices as well as her own feeling towards her sexual abilities. It is also determined by her partner's ability to satisfy her, because many-a-times inability in a partner can badly affect women's sexual life.
Sexual health of females is vastly different from that of male because of the fact that a woman remains active through out her life. Men on the other hand suffer a decline in their sexual abilities after the age of 30.
What are the facets of sexual life of women?
It is considered to be fickle because a woman's response to sexual stimulation and her interest in sex may vary widely depending on the circumstances, time and her mental set up. It might so happen that a woman reacts explosively to sexual stimulation in a particular situation at one time and entirely negatively in the same situation at another time.
A woman normally reaches the peak of her sexuality in her late 30s and early 40s; this is the time it is said to be at its peak. However the hormonal level, individual differences with her partner, age, and circumstances, all play a key role in determining your sexual life.
These factors can come into play at any time during the four phases of sexual activity - desire or excitement, arousal, orgasm and resolution.
If the offending factor comes into play just once or twice, it might not really affect sexual health. But if it is repeated time after time, it can take a real battering. It might lead the woman to become cold or dry and unresponsive to sexual stimulation. In such a scenario, the only way to bring it back to shape is to get professional consultation.
The state of sexual pleasure of women is best judged by the woman herself. It requires understanding and patience to understand the condition and then strength to go and talk to her partner and a doctor about the condition. Most women are too shy to discuss sexual health with even their partners. As a result, this topic is often an ignored topic.

Male Sexual Health Is As Important As a Man's Beating Heart

It is no secret that people who have frequent sex live longer, healthier, and happier lives. Couples who maintain their sexual health are the usual people whose relationships last for a long time. Looking after your own sexual health is important as it can be both emotionally and physically detrimental to your well being, as well as taxing on relationships and personal confidence.

Male Sexual Health

Good male sexual health is defined as ability to perform satisfactory sexual intercourse which is satisfying to both man and his partner and enhances their overall. The key to male sexual health is an abundance of healthy sperm. Male sexual health is incredibly important to the overall health of many men, and must be taken seriously (even when it feels somewhat embarrassing to talk about).

There are numerous occupations where male sexual health is at risk and you could be employed in one of them if your job involves any of the following, organic solvents, mercury, radiation (x-ray), radioactive substances, benzene, boron, heavy metals and toxic chemicals.

Men who won't go to the doctor about male sexual health issues let themselves suffer agonizing worry. Male sexual health is often placed at risk on account of a whole range of sexual disorders and among all the sexual problems suffered by men; erectile dysfunction is a prominent one.

Erectile Dysfunction

Impotence, or erectile dysfunction, is distressing and can occur for a number of reasons. It is both alarming and reassuring to understand that 52% of all men will suffer some degree of impotence during their lives. Impotence is a male sexual health issue that describes the inability to maintain an adequate erection for a long enough period of time to satisfy your and your partner's sexual needs. With more than 50 percent of men over the age of 35 suffering erectile dysfunction, the age of male sexual health is well and truly upon us.

Male Sexual Wellness

Male sexual wellness can be improved by exercise and healthy living and this means a diet that is natural. If you have a good all round diet, take moderate exercise and restrict recreational drugs the above supplements will help you not only increase libido but give you all round health benefits as well. It has been found that following a male sexual health exercise plan will greatly reduce the risk of prostate cancer, bladder problems and impotence well into old age.

Substances that can cause erectile dysfunction include alcohol, cigarettes, high blood pressure medication, anti-anxiety medication, antidepressants, cocaine, and major tranquillisers such as Melleril (Davidson & Neale, 1996). When erectile dysfunctions are smoking related, they cannot be completely cured with medications like Viagra.

Best treatment options combine sex psychology counselling, nutrient supplementation and medication in the short term, following risk assessment by a qualified medical professional. Your healthcare provider can talk with you about whether these prescription medications are a good option for you.

There are certain exercises which help you regain incredibly hard erection by supplying fresh blood and energy around your genital area. However, just like any other exercise regime, a male sexual health exercise program needs to be done very day. Along with pumping iron and aerobic exercise, men are toning their pelvic muscles, often weakened from wear and tear coupled with lack of knowledge and the natural aging process.

Male sexual problems are often =caused by psychological factors such as when a man thinks that sex is sinful because of his religious beliefs, or when there's a lack of attraction for a partner and traumatic events from his past. Male sexual problems are often endured for years before the affected person seeks clinical help.

These days, however, common male sexual problems are openly discussed because man has learned that there are many solutions available and they can actually avail of them quite easily. Most male sexual problems are caused by natural conditions, so the best way to treat them is with a natural product.

Looking after your own sexual health is important as it can be both emotionally and physically draining as well as taxing on relationships and personal confidence. Male sexual wellness can be improved by exercise and healthy living and this means a diet that is natural. It has been found that following a male sexual health exercise plan will greatly reduce the risk of prostate cancer, bladder problems and impotence well into old age.

Discerning Fact From Fiction on Men's Sexual Health

Issues on men's sexual health are generally a hush-hush topic even among men themselves. Whereas women are more open in discussing personal and sexual matters with their peers and with their doctors, men are generally reticent to seek advice from other people even with medical professionals on matters of men's sexual health. It may well be within the nature of men to keep to themselves on personal matters, what more on men's sexual health which can be a delicate issue. As adolescents, young boys get information about their sexuality from their peers, and eventually, men's sexual health and issues are closed door topics in locker rooms in college.

Although the information they have acquired during these stages may be titillating or interesting, almost often they can be inaccurate or incorrect. Men are less likely to discuss matters on their sexual health with other men whereas women have the tendency to confer such concerns easily and openly. Consequently, men are often dazed when concerns on men's sexual health arise as they are left to themselves. With the extensive invasion of the Internet technology however, there is a massive dissemination of information on men's sexual health. This is tremendously advantageous for men as they can have access to information on men's sexual health - an anonymously at that - as countless websites offer vast data on the matter.

It must be noted however that there are also innumerable sites conveying bogus and incredible information on men's sexual health, therefore a questioning intelligence and sharp discernment are also necessary to acquire the accurate facts from the internet. There is a broad range of topics on men's sexual health. Like for instance, the use of condoms. The use of condoms is basically seen as the proper means to prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) and as a contraceptive as well. However, a large percentage of men do not comply with this preventive measure against STD and unwanted pregnancy for the woman.

A men's health forum online on men's sexual health can prove to be remarkably helpful in this matter. Risks, tips and personal experiences can be shared and discussed in this mode of communication among men. Erectile dysfunction or impotence is also one of the most covered concerns on men's sexual health. As impotence is a sensitive issue of masculinity, a large proportion of men find it embarrassing to discuss this topic with their peers or even their physicians. Pharmaceutical advances have tried to develop means to combat this condition, but still the issue of impotence connotes personal humiliation. By visiting credible information sources online, men can find the answers to their queries thereby alleviating their anxieties and making them look for options to correct the problem.

Another issue on men's sexual health is the improvement of the libido. Online forums can be an avenue to address underlying medical issues and lifestyle related matters that can affect their sexual desire such as fitness, diet and weight management. Other men's sexual health questions can be very specific ranging from the inability to retract the foreskin, Peyronie's disease, venous leakage and abnormal development of the urethra. Of foremost concern on men's sexual health are STDs. Much information derived on STD's such as HIV/AIDS, gonorrhea, herpes and syphilis are sometimes borne out of misinformation and sheer ignorance. Accurate information on men's sexual health is the cornerstone for a healthy sexuality and in enjoying sexual relationships to the fullest.

Men's health forums online are excellent avenues for education and awareness among men and would encourage them to take measures and seek medical attention as well.

Poor Sexual Health - A Natural Alternative

For many, poor sexual health and aging go together. Because of the sensitive nature of sexual health the exact statistics are a little murky, but the following one stands out:

Erectile dysfunction affects 50% of the male population over 40!

When I read that statistic I thought it might be on the high side. That was until two other pieces of information came to my attention:

First, Google lists over 17 million web pages that incorporate the word "Viagra." That compares to 3.3 million web pages for the word "aspirin" and 936,000 web pages for the word "Tylenol." When I did an overture search for "Viagra" there were over 310,000 searches. "Buy Viagra" had over 82,000 searches. "Erectile dysfunction" had over 97,000 searches. There are a lot of people (I suspect mainly men) who are looking for information on Viagra and what it can do for them.

Secondly, I went to my doctor for my annual checkup. For the first time he asked me if I was having any erection problems. I'm not going to reveal my answer but I asked him why he wanted to know. His answer had nothing to do with poor sexual health. The reason why he asks that question is because erectile dysfunction is a warning sign for diabetes and/or circulatory problems.

Creation or Evolution or Both!

Whether you believe the Bible and we are created by God or you believe in Darwin's Theory of Evolution and we evolved over time, sexual health is important to both. At one time poor sexual health, especially ED, was thought to be a mental and/or spiritual issue. More and more research is slowing that poor sexual health is really a function of poor cardiovascular health.

The development of Viagra is a fascinating study. It incorporates male physiology, chemistry, and the nervous system all working together to create an erection. It also provides keys to slowing down the aging process. One key in particular will help you find a natural alternative to Viagra; one that won't have side effects!

How Viagra Works!

Since we all know that Viagra is designed to help males achieve an erection we need to talk a little anatomy. In its simplest terms, an erection is the change in position of the male sex organ from a limp position to a firm, hard and upright position. When you want to move any part of your body you use muscles. Unfortunately this doesn't work for the male organ. Why? Because there are no skeletal muscle contractions involved in an erection. It is all done by pressure. More specifically blood pressure.

The male organ contains two cigar-shaped structures called corpora cavernosa that run the length of the organ. Arteries bring blood into these two structures with veins carrying the blood away from them. In a non-erect state, the blood flow from the arteries is restricted while the veins are open to drain the blood away. When a man becomes aroused, the arterial blood vessels open up so that pressurized blood can enter the corpora cavernosa. The veins leaving the male organ are constricted. This action traps the pressurized blood allowing for the size increase, movement and full erection.

First Clue to ED!

If the arterial blood vessels leading to the male organ do not open properly, it is almost impossible for a male to have an erection. This is the leading cause of ED and poor sexual health in men. Prior to 1983, most doctors thought the problem of poor sexual health was primarily mental not physical. That was until the 1983 meeting of the American Urological Association in Las Vegas. At that meeting and on stage, Dr. Giles Brindley injected his male organ with the drug phentolamine. The result was an instant erection. And to prove his point, Dr. Brindley dropped his pants to display his drug-induced erection. Needless to say not everything done in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas.

Dr. Brindley's bold presentation showed that an erection was a physiological issue more than a mental issue. To understand what happened we need to talk about muscles. Yes, I know I said muscles were not involved. Technically speaking I'm still going to hold this position. There are three groups of muscles:

" Skeletal - Skeletal muscles are those muscles that attach to the bones allowing us to move.

" Cardiac - The cardiac muscle powers the heart.

" Smooth - Smooth muscles are found in blood vessels, the intestines and the stomach. They usually act involuntarily.

Dr. Brindley injected himself with phentolamine. It is a drug that relaxes smooth muscle. Because of the location where he injected himself, the smooth muscles of the arterial blood vessels relaxed allowing the corpora cavernosa to completely fill with pressurized blood. Instant and uncontrolled erection!

Second Clue to ED!

The second clue to ED and poor sexual health centers on the body's ability to control blood flow. Without some type of control, there would be an even amount of blood flow to most of the body. This might be OK if we were vegetables and inactive but we aren't. We are constantly on the go so the body has designed a mechanism to help divert blood flow to the areas that need it the most. Think of your circulatory system as an elaborate design of pipes with valves. These valves can control both the flow of blood as well as divert blood to the areas that need it the most.

This is going to get a bit technical but the control mechanism incorporates the following steps:

1. The brain sends a signal to a particular never fiber. The nerve fiber ends in an NANC nerve cell located in the artery near the point where blood flow needs to be changed. This NANC nerve cell creates nitric oxide, a potentially dangerous free radical.

2. The NANC nerve cell releases nitric oxide into the blood and surrounding cells.

3. The nitric oxide acts as a signaling molecule to stimulate an enzyme called guanylate cyclase. This enzyme keeps the nitric oxide from causing damage by using it with GTP to produce a chemical called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP).

4. cGMP tell the smooth muscles of the arterial blood vessel to relax. This allows blood flow to increase.

5. There is another enzyme called phosphodiesterase (PDE) that deactivates the cGMP by turning it back into GTP.

6. When the cGMP is deactivated, the smooth muscle returns to its original constricted state.

Confused? Think of a cycle. Guanylate cyclase turns GTP into cGMP causing smooth muscles to relax. PDE turns cGMP into GTP causing the smooth muscles to return back to their constricted state. Nitric oxide turns this cycle on from a nerve impulse generated in the brain.

So, cGMP is produced as long as the brain is sending signals that initiate the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is produced as long as there is an adequate supply of the essential amino acid L-arginine.

Third clue to ED!

When a man suffers from ED and poor sexual health, the most common reason is the lack of nitric oxide in the blood vessels of the corpora cavernosa. When a man is aroused his brain does its job by sending the proper signal to the nerves located in his male organ. The nerves produce nitric oxide but the amount of cGMP produced is not enough to maintain an erection. The way Viagra solves this poor sexual health problem is pretty ingenious. To increase blood flow to the male organ you have three options:

1. Increase the amount of nitric oxide produced in the arterial blood vessels.

2. Increase the amount of cGMP produced in response to the nitric oxide.

3. Eliminate the PDE that converts cGMP back to GTP so that cGMP builds up. This causes the smooth muscles of the arterial blood vessels to properly relax and fill with blood.

Viagra uses option 3 to achieve an erection. Why PDE? Because there are 11 different kinds of PDE with only one type of PDE found in the male organ. That type is called PDE5. Talk about creative design. All Pfizer had to do was find a chemical that would selectively block PDE5 and nothing else. This chemical is sildenafil citrate. Here's how it works:

1. A male takes Viagra.

2. The sildenafil citrate is absorbed into the bloodstream and carried throughout the body.

3. The sildenafil citrate attaches to the PDE5 enzyme in the male's organ to disable it.

4. The male is sexually aroused and the man's brain does its job. A signal is sent to the nerve cell in the male's organ which produces nitric oxide.

5. The nitric oxide turns on the cycle creating cGMP to relax the smooth muscles of the arterial blood vessels.

6. Since the PDE5 is disabled the cGMP doesn't break down but builds up allowing the arterial blood vessels to fully dilate.

7. The man achieves a full erection.

Great stuff when it works perfectly but there are a few minor problems.

Side Effects of Viagra!

Almost every drug made by man has side effects and Viagra is no exception. Viagra blocks PDE5 but can also affect PDE6 which is used by the cone cells in the retina. This can affect color vision. For some it changes the way they perceive green and blue colors. For others they see the world with a bluish tinge for several hours. Because of this pilots cannot take Viagra within 12 hours of a flight.

The other two main side effects are headaches and flushing. The blocking of the PDE5 can spill over to other areas of the body causing vasodilatation and increased pressure. This raises the risk for stroke and heart attack. Because of this Viagra is a prescription drug rather than an over-the-counter drug. Additionally, you need to be careful not to combine Viagra with nitric oxide producing drugs like nitrates. Always consult a qualified physician before taking any product like Viagra for poor sexual health issues.

A Natural Alternative!

I'm not discounting the benefits of Viagra, Cialis and Levitra to help men with erectile dysfunction and poor sexual health. All three, when properly used under the guidance of a qualified physician, have been able to change poor sexual health into good sexual health. But understand that these drugs are treating a symptom more than the underlining problem.

The underlining problem for poor sexual health is the insufficient production of nitric oxide to help start and maintain proper vasodilatation. The creation of nitric oxide occurs in the endothelial cells that line the blood vessels. When the endothelial cells are damaged by high blood pressure, high sugar levels, cholesterol, and smoking this decreases nitric oxide production. That's why my physician asked me if I was experiencing any erectile problems. It's a warning sign for other potential health concerns that could affect your wellness.

The main nutrient for the creation of nitric oxide is an essential amino acid call L-arginine. Without going into detail, L-arginine has both a good side and a dark side depending upon how it is brought into your body. Please see my article, "L-arginine, Nitric Oxide and Sexual Health!" for more details.

The natural alternative to changing poor sexual health into good sexual health is to make sure you're addressing your cardiovascular system. Maintain normal blood sugar levels, keep your blood pressure in a normal range, keep your cholesterol under 200 and stop smoking. By combining this with an adequate intake of L-arginine, many males have found that they don't need to spend money on Viagra-like products to help them with poor sexual health issues.

What Is The Definition Of Sexual Health?

Sexual health is influenced by a great many factors ranging from behaviour, attitudes, and conditioning, to biological and genetic factors. It encompasses the problems of HIV, unintended pregnancy and abortion, infertility and sexual dysfunction. Sexual health can also be influenced by mental health, acute and chronic illnesses, and violence. It also involves the individual, family, community, health system level legal and regulatory environments where the sexual rights of all people are upheld. Ideas and norms about sexuality and health come from a variety of sources including social custom, science, medicine, religious belief, and personal experiences. As a result, no one definition of sexual health is likely to adequately represent this diversity, especially when professional opinions on sexuality and sexual health are formed by training and social position which in turn, are often influenced by the individual's culture, socio-economic status, religion, etc. Because the words "health" and "healthy" are often linked to the field of medicine, they carry a medical connotation and authority. As a result, the term "sexual health" can be misused to express approval or disapproval of specific behaviours or individuals under what may seem to be "medical truth". This is the reason why some sex educators and therapists are fearful of promoting a concept of sexual health (directly, by defining it, or indirectly, by developing guidelines) through education. Also it's worth keeping in mind that definitions of sexual health can change and should not be taken as rigid rules of conduct. The World Health Organisation says... "Sexual health is...the integration of the physical, emotional, intellectual and social aspects of sexual being, in ways that are positively enriching and that enhance personality, communication and love." "...a capacity to enjoy and control sexual and reproductive behaviour in accordance with a social and personal ethic." "...freedom from fear, shame, guilt, false beliefs and other psychological factors inhibiting sexual response and impairing sexual relationships." "...freedom from organic disorders, diseases and deficiencies that interfere with sexual and reproductive function." Good sexual health means making sure you have the knowledge, skills and ability to make informed sexual choices and acting responsibly to protect your health and the health of others.

Women and Sexual Health

Good sexual health isn't just about sexual intercourse. Women should know that sexual health encompasses many other aspects like understanding how your body works, knowing what turns you on and what puts you off, accepting your sexual desires and sexual orientation, choosing a form of sexual expression that you are comfortable with, and knowing how to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases (STD s) and unwanted pregnancies.

Women should understand that sexual health begins with accepting your sexuality. Our earliest perceptions of sex are inculcated in childhood by our parents' and society's attitude towards it. Until recently, talking about sex was taboo. So, children, especially females perceive that sex is not a good thing. They hear the disapproving voices discussing homosexuality and they subconsciously register that as well. These false ideas infiltrate into adulthood and can be a mental hurdle to good sexual health. It could lead to feelings of shame or guilt when indulging in sexual activities, a reluctance to fully explore sexual potential, or a negative approach to sex. Your sexuality is an integral part of who you are. By accepting your desires, women can positively enhance their sexual experiences and create a healthier self-image.

As a women and an individual, you should never indulge in anything you are uncomfortable with, especially when it comes to sex. Putting up with sexual activities that hurt, embarrass or humiliate is just plain wrong. If you know what you want from a sexual relationship, and you understand what excites you and gives you pleasure and what doesn't, it empowers you to control your sexuality and choose a form of sexual expression that you are comfortable with.

Good sexual health also means protecting yourself from sexually transmitted diseases (STD s). Women can talk to a trusted gynecologist regarding any fear, doubts and inhibitions they may have. Learning about the various types of STDs and how to prevent them, knowing how to determine if you have one, and what to do if you are infected, is a very important aspect of sexual health. Women should have complete knowledge about STD's to prevent them from any heath risk.

Sexual health is as important as physical or mental well-being. Women can better the quality of their life by fully exploring and understanding their sexuality.

Male Sexual Health - Past and Present

Preoccupation with the male genitalia and virility is not a new social behavior. Ancient civilizations had already placed a high value on the phallus not only for sexual reasons but also for the preservation of peace and order. The phallus was a very important symbol in the Roman Empire, specifically in the city of Pompeii. Pompeii is famous for being the Roman city that was literally buried in lava, mud, and rocks when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 B.C. Accidentally discovered in 1748, the city was found beneath meters of ash and pumice. People who resided in that city were found stone-like and lying in different poses that showed their panic and despair that fateful day when the volcano took away their lives and property.

But another interesting find in the ruins was a fresco inside the Villa dei Vetii. The fresco showed Priapus weighing his penis against a sack of money. In Greek mythology, Priapus was a fertility god who was also considered the protector of livestock, plant life, and yes, even the male genitals. Called Mutinus Mutunus in Roman mythology, the said minor god was the son of Aphrodite and Adonis. The fresco boasted how Priapus' privates outweighed the bag full of coins. In fact, sculptures and images of Priapus were placed by farmers in the field supposedly to ensure the abundance of the harvest. For the Romans, his status also served as a scarecrow. The erect penis was not only propped to scare off the birds but burglars as well. These statues usually had inscriptions that contained the threat of sodomy on anyone caught stealing in the field or house where the said stone figures were set-up. During those times, rape was a common punishment for criminal offenders.

Archaeologists and sociologists believe that for many men during those ancient days, a properly functioning penis was crucial to having self-esteem. Proficiency and endurance in sexual activity were considered "manly" attributes, and are still viewed as such by most 21st century men. But what is really interesting in the archaeological ruins of Pompeii is how the penis as a symbol was highly regarded, even revered, by the Roman people.

Today, we can hardly see pictures or statues of men that show the disproportionately sized penis. In ancient Rome, it was important enough to commission an artist to paint such a scene inside one's villa. Still, the preoccupation with the male genitals and sexual performance is still a "silent concern" for most men. Lack of sexual ability, or more accurately, the inability to achieve an erection is a major male concern. It is estimated that at least 30 million American men have been diagnosed with erectile dysfunction. As a sexual health problem, male impotence is defined as the total inability to achieve an erection; an inconsistent ability to achieve an erection; or a tendency to sustain an erection for only brief moments.

Sexual health is more than just an issue of prevention and control of sexually transmitted disease. More appropriately, it is concerned with the physical, emotional and even relational conditions of people. Specifically, male sexual health is focused on a man's ability to have an erection, which is crucial to performing the sexual act. Intimacy in marriage or in deeper, physical relations between a man and a woman is normally attached to the issue of having the "capacity to perform." While professional definitions of sexual health goes beyond anatomical and coital discussions, most ordinary men and women attribute the term to acts "in the bedroom." Surely, men will do well to elevate the discussion of male sexual health above sexual trivia, positions, and performance. Aside from the obvious need to be informed about the dangers of sexually transmitted disease, men should also be educated about the women's sexuality and women's needs. Unlike men, the sexual functions of women are influenced by a number of factors, and not the normal rise in libido.

To access reliable and professional advice regarding sexuality and sexual health, both men and women should consider an appointment with a professional counselor or doctor at the nearest sexual health clinic. It is a known fact, especially in poor countries, that what goes around as knowledge about sexual health is nothing short of a myth. Often, young boys and girls rely on the peer group to get information about sexual health, or about sex itself.

But for men, whether they live in a poor country or in a developed nation, sexual problems must still be addressed by going to a sexual health clinic. Erectile dysfunction is not just a physical problem. It is also linked to emotional and psychological distress. While men who suffer from erectile dysfunction still have the ability to father a child, they do encounter challenges in sustaining their relationships and even their own self-esteem. By getting professional help, men with erectile dysfunction can benefit from science-based information and even medications such as Sildenafil (usually sold under the brand name Viagra), Vardenafil, and Finasteride.

Indeed, getting information on how to attain good sexual health need not be as difficult as excavating Pompeii. Male sexual health is not about achieving the legendary size of Priapus or have circus-like abilities for the most intimate human act. Sexual health is, above all, about maintaining physical health, safety in intimacy, and sustaining good relationships with those we love.

Sexual Health - Simple Steps For Maintaing Optimum Sexual Health

Sexual health today, is nothing more than an expression of your general state of health. Moreover, your sexual health is a good indication of your general state of health.

If your libido is falling, if you have erectile dysfunction, or painful intercourse, you probably have other conditions affecting your general health.

Here's what to do about guarding your sexual health.

Conditions that Affect Your Sexual Health

There are a few conditions that obviously affect directly your sexual health:

o Overall state of your health

o Obesity (being overweight)

o Sexually transmitted diseases

o Self-Image

o Impotence

o Lack of sexual satisfaction

What can be done about these?

1. If you are overweight, you must go on a diet and stick to it .There is no substitute.
Overweight people have a decreased libido. Seek help, do what you have to do, but lose some weight. You will see your sexual health improving in direct relation to the weight loss.

2. Exercise

Is indispensable for sexual health. Whatever your condition is, make a daily effort to exercise, and in the least condition, walk. Walking is one of the best exercises known.
It will help you to lose weight as well. Your exercise will help you boost your testosterone levels and this will increase your libido, and sexual ability.

3.Besides dieting, choose foods that promote sexual health.

Make a red list (things not to eat) and a green list (things to eat).
The red list Will contain foods that are on your diet as forbidden, but also can contain red meat, junk foods, anything fried, things not fresh, hard alcohol, and other foods that do not promote general health. Your green list will contain lots of fresh foods, fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, and green tea, for example.

5. Examine your lifestyle.

Are you getting enough rest? Rest and relaxation are crucial to overall health as well as sexual health. Your mood and outlook improves when you are rested and relaxed. You have to include chill out periods during your day, no matter how busy you are, and also sufficient sleep.

6. A major cause in the decline of sexual and general heath is stress.

You must, for the sake of both your general health and sexual health (which is very directly related to stress mis-management), learn stress management techniques.

Lifestyle vs. Sexual Health Issues

Finally you must make a good examination of your whole lifestyle. Are you living the way you really wish to?

Is your sex life satisfactory?

Are you aging earlier than you expected? These are some basic questions that you must answer, and honestly.

If your lifestyle is not promoting your sexual and general health in an acceptable manner, you have to begin to think about changing it. This self-examination is very good for each person, and you can simply sit down by yourself, before you sleep and review your day.

Go over each action you can remember. Think about them, were they correct, clever? Did they bring you happiness and satisfaction? Were you acting positively or negatively?

All of the above affects your sexual health in one way or another. If you would be healthy and happy, you must start now to guard your sexual health.

Your Sexual Health is Super-Charged by the Natural Medicine of Humor

Giovanni Casanova (1725-1798) was an Italian adventurer, writer, soldier, musician, spy, and diplomat. Those accomplishments, however, have been historically overshadowed by Casanova's reputation as a freewheeling sensualist. The term "Casanova" has come to represent a person of great sexual ability and indulgence.

The feeling that he wasn't a "Casanova" and the thought that he should be, was what motivated Paul to seek my help. He was worried that he was letting his partner down sexually. Paul's problem was not unique and it had an understandably common effect on his self-esteem and self-worth. Humans are sexual creatures, by nature, and the inability to enjoy healthy, appropriate sexual activity and/or sexual desire weighs heavily upon our holistic health and well-being.

When you are unable to enjoy appropriate sexual activity, your mind, body, and spirit feel off kilter because of your inherent sexual nature. You were born to have fun - and sex plays a large role in that. You deserve to have a regular, healthy expression of your sexual nature. It is fun and doesn't need to harm or impose on anyone else.

Concerns regarding a lack of sexual activity, as well as a lack of sexual desire, are becoming more frequent each year. Consequently prescriptions for erectile dysfunction and low libido are growing at an astonishing rate. Perhaps part of that growth can be explained by a lessening of the stigma of reporting sexual problems, but we certainly know that the typical causes of sexual dysfunction are more common today than ever before. Putting aside diet and physical health, which can play a vital role in a healthy sexual lifestyle, the number one cause of sexual dissatisfaction is stress.

Stress-related illness is at an all-time high (and still growing), so it comes as absolutely no surprise that symptoms of stress are also prevalent. The good news for you is that we know what causes most of the debilitating stress you experience. Your stress is a direct byproduct of seriousness - taking yourself too seriously. As we move into adulthood, we unfortunately buy into the notion that responsible and productive people must be "serious." As we make the biggest mistake of our lives and relegate our humor nature and fun to recreational activities (if we experience fun at all), we doom ourselves to all the symptoms of the corresponding seriousness that fills the void - declining health, rising stress, increased pain, lessened energy, impaired creativity, and more.

Even better news for you, however, is that we also know how to shrink your deadly seriousness to practically nothing and reduce almost completely the sway it holds over your health, vitality, wellness, and zest. The natural medicine of humor is an incredibly powerful resource that you already possess; you've only forgotten how to use it to maximum effectiveness. You will soon discover that, while not a panacea, the natural medicine of humor is a tremendous remedy for a variety of health concerns and will also supercharge other treatments because it is an amazing adjunctive medicine too!

I have distilled the natural medicine of humor, through my years of medical practice, into an amazing prescription I call The Fun Factor. Based on what I learned over twenty years ago from a terminally ill fifteen-year-old patient, I created a unique set of principles I call the Fun Commandments, then forged these Commandments into my Fun Factor prescription and have been prescribing The Fun Factor with great success for years. This report will show you how to use just three of my Fun Commandments to turn your sexual health and performance around, and gain new joy, pleasure, and appreciation from your sexual activity!

My first Fun Commandment has a profound effect on your sexual health because it is a fabulous introduction to the natural medicine of humor, in general: Go the Extra Smile. Smiling, as simple as it sounds, is a key to improved sexual appreciation because of its simplicity and almost constant appropriateness. A smile almost never offends and it is completely controllable, regardless of your circumstances; smiling is the easiest way to infuse yourself with the natural medicine of humor!

Smiling enhances your sexuality because it immediately decreases stress and fills you with energy and creativity. The best news about the positive effects of smiling is that these benefits are measurable even if you are wearing a "fake" smile. If you are thinking that lowering your stress level, while simultaneously snowballing your energy level and creativity, will add rocket fuel to your are absolutely correct!

Smiling has multiple benefits for your sexual health and wellness because it turbo-charges both your mood and your physiology. But smiling does another thing that accelerates your sexual satisfaction. It attracts reciprocal attention from your mate because a smile is an open invitation. Think of a smile as a happiness virus and you'll soon realize that your improved sexual health, your reduced stress, and increased energy can be easily shared with your partner.

Another of my Fun Commandments that allows the natural medicine of humor to soup-up your sexuality is: Laugh with Yourself. Laughing with yourself is the epitome of self-acceptance, not self-denigration as you might've been led to believe. You cannot take yourself too seriously when you're willing to laugh with yourself because you're embodying the philosophy of taking yourself lightly.

Let's face it, we are funny creatures and that's how we're supposed to be! Looked at objectively, our bodies are both fun and funny; the physical act of sex forces us to conjoin in some awkward and, almost, impractical ways. Giving ourselves permission to see the humor in our funny bodies and their functions eases the pressure we place on ourselves to perform sexually and our humor adds further fuel to our commitment to take ourselves less seriously.

Why wouldn't we laugh out of sincere appreciation for our perfect imperfections and the funny physicality of sex? To not see the gentle, and sometimes obvious, humor in these things means we are taking ourselves, and our sexuality, way too seriously. It's really all quite hilarious, in my opinion...we spend so much time, energy, and resources focusing on an act that takes less than 1% of our waking time. If we're not careful this teeny, tiny portion of our day can dominate our culture and our personal thoughts! Not that you don't have some good reasons to think about sex, but give yourself permission to gently laugh at your obsession and you'll find some additional stress released.

The last Fun Commandment we'll apply to your sexual health today is: Let Go Frequently. I always say that in life, as in juggling, success depends on how quickly you are able to let go. Also in life, as in juggling, we all have a tendency to hang on to things too long, even when they are no longer working for us. In this case, hanging on to our harsh expectations creates stress that deflates our sexuality because we are unable to measure up.

Society deluges us with images of youthful sexuality; it's easy to imagine that everyone except us is engaged in passionate, daily sexual activity and we begin to feel that there is something wrong with us when our sex lives don't match the Madison Avenue fantasies. Let go of those images today, because no one except you has the authority or knowledge to decide what your optimal sexual habits and practices should be. Your sexual expectations regarding frequency, sensation, and/or duration are only placing unneeded pressure on yourself and that pressure only creates more stress.

Let go of your expectations of performance too. Many of my patients and clients imagine they must achieve a certain level of sexual performance for their mates to be pleased. Nothing could be further from the truth. When you set expectations regarding outcomes, you set yourself up for failure because you are putting even more pressure on yourself. Let go of the end results; concentrate on the fun, joy, and love inherent in sex because that is where the true pleasure is found.

Let go of sexual frequency and performance expectations, smile, laugh with yourself, and go along with whatever unfolds as a result of your footwork today. If you can do these things you will be a very sexual, passionate creature and sexy in the most important eyes of all - yours! Remember that you are already perfect (perfectly imperfect) and you don't need fixing. Instead of fixing yourself, use the natural medicine of humor to relax, smile, and enjoy the ride.

My patient, Paul, committed himself not only to these three Fun Commandments, but also to my entire Fun Factor prescription. He and his partner did not morph into Casanova's...but they didn't care because they formed their own definition of sexuality based on fun, joy, and love. Over time Paul and his partner arrived at an open, honest, and fun expression of sexual passion, based on my Fun Commandments, with a frequency and zest that satisfied both.

By the way, what you don't know about Casanova was that his true value to humankind was not as a red-hot lover, but as one of the most gifted and authoritative social historians of his age. He spent his last years as a librarian, before dying of syphilis. Still want to be just like him? I suggest using the natural medicine of humor to find your own sexual identity and enjoy a healthy satisfying sex life of your own creation.
